​​​​​Shawn Whitehead, PharmD, is based at Rhode Island Hospital with direct oversight of all acute care clinical pharmacy specialists, and with indirect oversight of clinical pharmacy specialists at The Miriam Hospital and Newport Hospital. His responsibilities include bringing the clinical program to the next level through more autonomous and progressive pharmacist-driven services, optimizing the clinical pharmacy practice model, leading service line teams to accelerate clinical guideline development and cost reduction strategies, enhancing the electronic medical record to be as efficient and safe as possible, optimizing on-boarding and training, training front-line team members, and overseeing recruitment, retention, and performance enhancement.

Practice/Research Interests: Treatment of ICU delirium, increasing safe EMR use through appropriate alerts, order sets, and embedded calculators, and clinical pharmacy practice models
