Community Outreach Specialist

As a community outreach specialist, Victoria Lugo exemplifies the dedication of a long-serving Lifespan team member, who is committed to giving back to her community. 

She began her career at Lifespan in 2002 as a clerk in the Rhode Island Hospital gift shop before taking on the position of unit secretary, where she supported patients, families, clinicians, and physicians. Later, she served as a control clerk, followed by roles as administrative assistant to the Lifespan Medical Simulation Center, and Workforce Development, expanding her involvement with Lifespan’s mission to provide high quality care to its patients through excellent service.

Throughout her years of service at Lifespan, Lugo has pursued a college education, earning an associate degree at the Community College of Rhode Island and a bachelor’s degree at Rhode Island College, where she also obtained a certificate of undergraduate studies in nonprofit studies.

Lugo is a member of the Lifespan Anti-Racism and Health Equity Collaborative, where she works with fellow Lifespan members to understand and support the movement to address racism as a public health crisis, with a goal to contribute to a process of eliminating racial disparities and improving outcomes for everyone.
