Alexandra Gundersen, MD, is a physiatrist, and director of the cancer rehabilitation program in Lifespan Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. She treats patients at Lifespan Cancer Institute locations in East Greenwich, Lincoln and Providence. She works with those who have been diagnosed with cancer to address their functional needs.

She completed a cancer rehabilitation fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City through Columbia/Cornell Universities and a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Boston through Harvard Medical School. Her internship was with The Warren Alpert Medical School at Brown University at Rhode Island Hospital. Dr. Gundersen earned her medical degree from Penn State University College of Medicine in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

Dr. Gundersen has co-authored numerous research articles for peer-reviewed journals, contributed to academic textbooks, and co-presented at medical conferences and meetings.
