Clinical Psychologist

Amanda Phillips, PhD, is a clinical health psychologist with Lifespan Psychiatry and Behavioral Health Services. Dr. Phillips treats patients at Tiverton Primary Care, a Coastal Medical practice, at the Medical Heart Failure clinic, and at the Outpatient Psychiatry and Behavioral Health clinic. 

Dr. Phillips earned her doctoral degree in clinical health psychology from the University of North Texas. She completed her predoctoral internship in behavioral medicine at the VA San Diego Healthcare System/University of California San Diego where she developed her expertise in bariatric psychology and diabetes psychology. Dr. Phillips completed her postdoctoral fellowship in behavioral medicine at the VA San Diego Healthcare System where she expanded her skills in working with people who have a variety of chronic illnesses.

Dr. Phillips’ clinical interests are to provide evidence-based therapy in integrated settings with people who are experiencing challenges in managing physical and mental health. In particular, she enjoys working with people experiencing diabetes burnout or seeking assistance adjusting to complex self-management regimens. Dr. Phillips uses cognitive-behavioral interventions to help people adjust to variety of health concerns such as insomnia, chronic pain, and heart disease. She also uses evidence-based therapy to treat stress, anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, and binge-eating disorder.
