Psychologist

Alex Brake, PhD, is a  psychologist at the Adult Partial Hospital Program at Rhode Island Hospital.

He earned his master’s degree in psychology at Boston University and his doctoral degree in clinical psychology at the University of Kentucky in Lexington. He also completed internship and postdoctoral fellowship years in the Brown Clinical Psychology Training Consortium.

Dr. Brake’s clinical work focuses on the assessment and treatment of trauma-related disorders, including PTSD, as well as anxiety, mood, and obsessive-compulsive and related disorders.

His research interests include emotional and mindfulness-based processes in the context of trauma-related symptoms and treatment. He has coauthored book chapters and numerous articles in peer-reviewed medical journals and has presented nationally. He is a member of the American Psychological Association, the Society of Clinical Psychology, the Anxiety and Depression Association of America, the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies, and the Society for a Science of Clinical Psychology.
