Christopher Matkovic, MD

Director of Adult Psychiatry Emergency Services and the Division of Correctional Psychiatry

Christopher M. Matkovic, MD, is director of adult psychiatry emergency services and the division of correctional psychiatry at Rhode Island Hospital. He is a clinical assistant professor of psychiatry and human behavior at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.

He is board certified in psychiatry, child psychiatry and forensic psychiatry, and holds additional board certification in addiction medicine through the American Board of Addiction Medicine. Dr. Matkovic's research interests include juvenile substance abuse, emergency psychiatry, and suicide prevention for at-risk individuals in the year after their release from prison. He supervises addiction medicine fellows, forensic psychiatry fellows, and medical students and residents in the psychiatric emergency service. He serves as the consulting director of psychiatry at the Adult Correctional Institute in Cranston.
