Edward McGookin, MD, MHCDS, FAAP, is chief of primary care at Brown Health Medical Group Primary Care (formerly Coastal Medical), and an associate clinical professor of pediatrics at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. Brown Health Medical Group Primary Care is a member of the Brown University Health System and the largest primary care group in Rhode Island. Its primary care practices have been providing adult, family, and pediatric services since 1995.

Dr. McGookin practiced general pediatrics for more than 15 years at Waterman Pediatrics before taking on a leadership role for the organization. He has been a driving force in the development of population health management initiatives and is at the forefront of healthcare delivery system transformation and payment reform, both locally and nationally.

Dr. McGookin received his MD from the State University of New York Health Science Center, Syracuse, NY. He completed his residency training in pediatrics at Hasbro Children's in Providence, RI, and earned a master's degree in health care delivery science at Dartmouth College.
