Emily Ortega Goddard, MD is a surgeon at Lifespan’s Center for Bariatric Surgery and an assistant professor of surgery at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. She specializes in minimally invasive surgery and is certified in endoscopic, laparoscopic, and robotic surgery.

Dr. Goddard earned her medical degree from the Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia and completed a residency in general surgery at WellSpan York Hospital in York, Pennsylvania. She then went on to finish her fellowship in minimally invasive and bariatric surgery at Brown University.

Her surgical interests include surgical endoscopy, complex hernia repair, bariatrics, and foregut surgery. She loves to teach and believes that training the next generation of surgeons is of the utmost importance.

Dr. Goddard has presented at numerous conferences and collaborated on medical research published in academic journals.

She is a member of the American College of Surgeons, the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, and The American Foregut Society.

Dr. Goddard is certified in Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support by the American Heart Association and in Advanced Trauma Life Support by the American College of Surgeons.
