Frank Overly, MD, FAAP, is the director of the Brown University Health Simulation Center. With more than two decades of experience in medical simulation, Dr. Overly leads the center in its mission to advance simulation practices across the healthcare system and region. His expertise and research interests inspire him to utilize simulation effectively to improve educational programs, enhance provider performance, and evaluate medical teams and systems.

Dr. Overly was the medical director of the pediatric emergency department at Hasbro Children's and is an attending physician there. Dr. Overly’s expertise as an educator, researcher, and administrator helps the center enhance healthcare safety and effectiveness through continuous improvement and innovation benefiting patients, providers, and care teams.

Dr. Overly is a professor of emergency medicine and pediatrics at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. With a bachelor of science in electrical engineering from Bucknell University, he obtained a medical degree from the University of Rochester. He was a pediatric resident at the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh and completed a fellowship in pediatric emergency medicine at Hasbro Children's Hospital.

He has published on a variety of subjects including pediatric simulation, pediatric sedation, asthma and orthopedics, and has collaborated with international research networks on several successful multicenter simulation projects.
