Haitham S. Ahmed, MD, MSc, PhD

Haitham S. Ahmed, MD, MSc, PhD, is a psychiatrist who cares for adults in inpatient and outpatient settings. He earned his medical degree and a master of science degree at the faculty of medicine, Cairo University, Egypt, as well as a doctor of philosophy degree at the medical school of the University of Lübeck in Germany.

Dr. Ahmed completed his psychiatry residency in the department of psychiatry and behavioral sciences at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center/McGovern School of Medicine at Houston, where he also completed a physician educator certificate program (PECP) in addition to a healthcare management program. In his final year of residency training, he served as the chief resident for research affairs, where he developed the program’s first comprehensive didactics curriculum for the research track psychiatry residents.

Dr. Ahmed's research interests include mood disorders, psychopharmacology, cognitive neuroscience, neuroimaging, and AI-applications in psychiatry. He published several book chapters as well as numerous peer-reviewed articles and received multiple accolades in recognition of his work. He is a member of the American Psychiatric Association and the Society of Biological Psychiatry among other professional organizations and is an ad-hoc scientific reviewer for several peer-reviewed journals.
