Jacob A. Lafo, PhD

Jacob Lafo, PhD, is a clinical neuropsychologist with Lifespan Physician Group. 

Dr. Lafo earned his doctor of philosophy degree in clinical psychology (neuropsychology track) from the University of Florida in Gainesville and completed his internship and postdoctoral fellowship at Providence VA Medical Center/The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, with specialization in neuropsychology.

He has clinical expertise in late adolescent, adult, and geriatric neuropsychological assessment, with particular interest in neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer's and other dementias, Parkinson's disease, stroke and cerebrovascular disease, and neuropsychiatric conditions.

Dr. Lafo's research interests include cognitive and emotional features of movement disorders, cognitive predictors of advanced prosthesis use, and adverse clinical outcomes in heart failure associated with cognitive impairment. He has contributed numerous research articles to peer-reviewed publications and is an ad-hoc reviewer for medical journals.

During his postdoctoral fellowship, he conducted research at the Providence VA Medical Center’s Center for Gerontology and Healthcare Research.

Dr. Lafo is a member of the International Neuropsychological Society, the American Psychological Association, Division 40 - Clinical Neuropsychology, and the Hispanic Neuropsychological Society, as well as the Skidmore College Periclean Honor Society.

He has advanced proficiency in Spanish and he provides culturally and linguistically sensitive services for Spanish-speaking patients.
