Karen E. Aspry, MD, MS, FNLA, FACC, is a cardiologist with the Cardiovascular Institute, with expertise in general, invasive, and preventive cardiology. She is director of the lipid clinic and cardiovascular disease prevention program, and has an active practice in the treatment of cholesterol disorders. She is an assistant professor of medicine (clinical) in the department of medicine at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, and is board certified in cardiovascular medicine, internal medicine, nuclear medicine and clinical lipidology.

Dr. Aspry received her medical degree from the University of California Davis School of Medicine, her master’s degree in nutritional sciences from the University of California at Berkeley, and completed her residency and fellowship training at the University of California Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, California. She was a senior partner with The Permanente Medical Group of Northern California. She is a member of the National Lipid Association, where she co-chairs the practice management council, a board member of the Northeast Lipid Association, and a member of the American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association. Her clinical, research and teaching interests are in clinical lipidology and cardiovascular risk reduction.
