Karl Breuing, MD

Plastic Surgeon

Karl Breuing, MD, FACS, is a board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon with a particular interest in wound healing and breast reconstruction. He is director of The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University plastic surgery residency program.

Dr. Breuing earned his medical degree from Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz, Germany. He completed a residency in surgery followed by a residency in plastic surgery, both at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, after completing residencies in Germany.

His clinical expertise includes ocular facial plastic surgery, cosmetic laser treatments, and breast surgery. Dr. Breuing developed a novel technique for expander and implant reconstruction following mastectomy for breast cancer.

Dr. Breuing is a member of American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the American Association of Plastic Surgeons, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, and the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, among other professional organizations. He is a reviewer for the Journal of Plastic Surgery and Hand Surgery.
