Pediatric Allergist/Immunologist

Marcella R. Aquino, MD, is a staff allergist/immunologist at Rhode Island Hospital and its Hasbro Children’s Hospital in Rhode Island in the department of pediatrics, division of allergy and immunology. Dr. Aquino is also an associate professor of pediatrics and clinician educator at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. 

She completed her residency in pediatrics at New York University/Bellevue Hospital and her allergy/immunology fellowship at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-Newark. Dr. Aquino previously served as the president of the Long Island Allergy and Asthma Society and is the current vice-chair of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology's Allergic Skin Disease Committee.

Her specific clinical interests include allergic skin diseases, particularly allergic contact dermatitis, atopic dermatitis and drug allergy. She has presented on these topics at national meetings. Dr. Aquino has published in textbooks and peer reviewed journals with a focus on contact dermatitis including patch testing, the role of contact dermatitis in atopic dermatitis patients, drug allergy challenges/desensitization and the use of simulation for the instruction of anaphylaxis/allergic emergencies.
