Mohamed A. Sherif, MD, PhD

Mohamed A. Sherif, MD, PhD, is an inpatient psychiatrist at Rhode Island Hospital. Dr. Sherif earned his master’s degree in neurology and psychiatry, as well as his medical degree from Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt. He completed his clinical internship and residency at Ain Shams University hospitals.

Following the completion of his medical training in Egypt, Dr. Sherif completed his graduate studies in biomedical engineering at SUNY Downstate Medical Center/ Polytechnic Institute of New York University. He went on to complete his psychiatry residency and PhD program at SUNY Downstate Medical Center, Kings County Hospital Center and SUNY Downstate Medical Center/ Polytechnic Institute of NYU. Most recently, Dr.  Sherif completed his fellowship in psychiatry specializing in schizophrenia neuropsychopharmacology with Yale University, School of Medicine, VA Connecticut Healthcare System, West Haven.  

Dr. Sherif is a member of the American Psychiatric Association, Society of Neuroscience, Society of Biological Psychiatry, the International Pharmaco-EEG Society, and the Organization of Computational Neuroscience.
