Tianyi (Tim) Niu, MD, is a neurosurgeon who practices at the Norman Prince Neurosciences Institute. Dr. Niu subspecializes in complex spine surgery. He is an assistant professor of neurosurgery and director of the neurosurgery spinal deformity program at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.

Dr. Niu earned his medical degree at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee and served his neurosurgery residency at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles.

He is a member of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons and the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and of their joint spine and cerebrovascular sections, as well as the North American Spine Society.

Dr. Niu’s work has been published in many peer-reviewed articles and book chapters. His clinical interests include adult spinal deformity and spinal malignancies. His research interests include spinal surgery outcomes and primary and metastatic tumors of the spinal column.
