Emergency Facilities at Rhode Island Hospital

Rhode Island Hospital is dedicated to maintaining a state-of-the-art emergency facility. The Andrew F. Anderson Emergency Center has served as a model for several other departments nationally.

The facility includes:

  • 45 individual treatment beds 
    patient on gurney being rushed through hallway
  • 6 procedure rooms
  • 6 fully equipped critical care rooms (12 patient capacity) with independent x-ray and full monitoring capability
  • Complete diagnostic imaging capabilities, including an MRI, dedicated CT scanner and ultrasound machine, three fully equipped x-ray suites and a reading room for processing the more than 140,000 studies that are ordered each year
  • Dedicated transient ischemic attack (TIA) unit
  • Radiation and hazardous materials decontamination suit
