Rhode Island Hospital Longitudinal Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience (LAPPE)

The Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience (APPE) Longitudinal Program at Rhode Island Hospital is designed for students who have a strong interest in health-systems pharmacy and plan to pursue a PGY-1 residency program after graduation.

Program Expectations

  • Each student who is selected for this program will complete all six APPE rotations at Rhode Island Hospital.
  • Each student will also be expected to complete a research project during the academic year and have a longitudinal experience project.
  • A poster presentation at the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) Midyear Meeting is expected.

Additional Responsibilities

Additional responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Longitudinal Research Project (required)
  • Presentation and in-services to pharmacy and nursing
  • Attendance at various committee meetings
  • IPPE student shadowing responsibilities
  • Assist PGY-1 and PGY-2 ambulatory and oncology care residents with research projects
