The expert pulmonary team at Newport Hospital treats disorders and diseases of the lungs and respiratory system.

Our board certified pulmonologist evaluates and treats the full spectrum of respiratory conditions,  including airway problems, such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), as well as pleural conditions, lung cancer, shortness of breath, pulmonary vascular disease, sleep disorders, pulmonary fibrosis, occupational lung disease and diaphragm dysfunction. 

The program is led by Samuel Evans, MD, who has expertise in a wide range of pulmonary disorders, including airway problems (asthma and COPD), pleural conditions, lung cancer, shortness of breath, pulmonary vascular disease, sleep disorders, pulmonary fibrosis, occupational lung disease and diaphragm dysfunction.

Our team works closely with the pulmonary rehabilitation program at the award-winning Vanderbilt Rehabilitation Center, and with the Sleep Disorders Center
