Pediatric Anesthesia

Physicians specially trained in pediatric anesthesiology care for infants, children and adolescents undergoing surgery at Hasbro Children's Hospital.

The department services include anesthesia for cardiovascular and neurosurgical procedures, provided by the only subspecialty trained group in the region. The department offers state-of-the-art anesthesia equipment and pain therapy services, through a comprehensive program of acute postoperative pain management, as well as diagnostic and therapeutic treatments for chronic pain problems.

The department provides approximately 7,000 anesthetics each year in five operating rooms, an on-site procedure suite, and numerous off-site locations, including for MRI, CT scans, interventional radiology, nuclear medicine and radiation therapy. This number includes care of newborns and infants from the special care nursery at Women & Infants Hospital who require surgical intervention at Hasbro Children's Hospital.
