While a day filled with sunshine can be uplifting, as we enjoy the sun’s rays, let’s also remember to protect our eyes with a good pair of sunglasses!

Ultraviolet (UV) rays are known to cause eye damage, including:

Protecting your eyes is key, and a good pair of sunglasses can do just that.

Three tips on choosing the right sunglasses:

  1. Purchase sunglasses that block 100 percent of UV rays.
  2. Wear larger or wrap-around sunglasses. They block more UV rays.
  3. Some sunglasses offer polarized lenses. These lenses decrease glare, which can help you see better over water or snow. While you may prefer polarized lenses when you’re lying on the beach or surfing, understand that polarization does not block UV rays.

So, find your perfect shades and head out into that sunshine! And if you’re not seeing as well as you should, remember that the Lifespan Physician Group Ophthalmology is here to see you.
