FRIENDS WAY
FRIENDS WAY is the only bereavement center in Rhode Island and Southeastern MA dedicated to serving children. Our mission is to provide a haven for healing and hope to children and families mourning the death of a loved one, sometimes due to traumatic circumstances. FRIENDS WAY provides peer-based support groups for children and families as well as a specialized camp experience for grieving children and teens. FRIENDS WAY also provides consultation to schools and child-serving agencies in the community on issues of child grief. Located in Warwick, RI, FRIENDS WAY offers all its services to children ages 3 to 18 years free of charge, including biweekly grief groups, family activities, and a three-day summer camp. Children’s readiness to participate in the program is assessed by an licensed clinician prior to admission.

The Autism Project
The Autism Project affiliated with Gateway Healthcare in April 2007. In a mutual effort to develop innovative Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) programming and increase access to care, Gateway and The Autism Project work closely together on new initiatives in the area of ASD. The Autism Project maintains its own 501(c) (3) and manages its own fundraising efforts while Gateway provides the infrastructure oversight. The Autism Project provides services including family support, trainings, social skills groups, and a two week annual camp. The Autism Project also works with state agencies and organizations to promote awareness of Autism and Asperger Syndrome, and to increase collaboration at all levels.

Capital City Community Centers
Capital City Community Centers became affiliated with Gateway Healthcare at the end of 2008. Capital City has a long-standing history of social services and adds depth to the Gateway program continuum. Located primarily in Providence, Capital City’s programming includes a pre-school program, a senior center, a food pantry and emergency services.

Today, Gateway and its affiliates employ more than 600 staff members including psychiatrists, psychologists, clinical specialists and other paraprofessionals. We reach more than 25,000 Rhode Islanders each year through residential, outpatient and community-based programs and stand alongside our affiliates in a mutual effort to develop creative solutions for community care. This impressive continuum places Gateway at the forefront in assisting individuals in the community in a myriad of ways.
