Kristy Dalrymple, PhD

Director, Adult Psychology

 Kristy Dalrymple, PhD, is director of adult psychology for Lifespan Behavioral Health Services and a staff psychologist with Lifespan Physician Group. She is an associate professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. 

Dr. Dalrymple received her doctorate from Drexel University. She completed her residency in psychology at the State University of New York Upstate Medical School and her fellowship in clinical research at the Alpert Medical School.

Her academic interests include development and testing of psychosocial interventions for depression and anxiety (particularly acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and other mindfulness-based therapies), mindfulness-based processes and psychiatric symptoms and functioning, and problematic eating behaviors in bariatric surgery candidates.

A prolific researcher, Dr. Dalrymple’s recent publications in peer-reviewed journals include topics like acceptability and feasibility of ACT for social anxiety and depression in an outpatient treatment setting, intuitive eating and the link between internalized weight stigma and body mass index, use of the DSM-5 for measuring anxiety in depressed patients, and acceptability of ACT in a partial hospital program.

Dr. Dalrymple is currently serving as co-investigator on a National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) grant which examines the link between hormones and behavioral mechanisms in female individuals with borderline personality disorder symptoms. She will also serve as principal investigator on an upcoming American Foundation for Suicide Prevention grant studying mobile interventions to reduce suicidality. She was previously principal investigator on a NIMH K award and received the young investigator award from the National Alliance for Research on Schizophrenia and Depression (NARSAD).

She is a member of the American Psychological Association, the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies, the Association for Contextual Behavioral Science (ACBS), and the Rhode Island Psychological Association, among others. She serves as co-chair of the Grants Committee for ACBS, and on the editorial board for the Journal of Contextual Behavioral Science.
