Endoscopy/Colonoscopy Services and COVID-19: Safety is our top priority.
In order to ensure our patients remain safe, we have rerouted patient flow at Rhode Island Hospital.
When you are scheduled for your endoscopy or colonoscopy at Rhode Island Hospital you will be instructed to arrive to the second floor of the Davol Building at the Adult Surgical Admitting Suite. Once you enter this suite you will be registered by one of our registrars and greeted by our surgical patient liaison. Our liaison will personally escort you through our service elevators and up to the 9th floor where you will be prepared for your procedure. Patients who have tested positive for COVID-19, or those who are unwell, will be identified before coming to the hospital and will be rescheduled for when they have fully recovered and are no longer a risk for spreading the COVID-19 infection.
All staff and patients are masked and practice strict hand hygiene. Once you have recovered from your endoscopy, someone will personally escort you to hospital entrance where your ride will be able to take you home.
Renée Cacchiotti, MSN, RN, Clinical Manager at Rhode Island Hospital tells us about safety measures keeping patients safe from COVID-19 at the Endoscopy Unit.
