Director, Pediatric Epilepsy Program

Luca Bartolini, MD is the director of the Pediatric Epilepsy Program and attending pediatric neurologist and epileptologist at Hasbro Children’s Hospital and Lifespan Physician Group. He is an assistant professor of pediatrics, neurology and neurosurgery at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. He specializes in the evaluation and treatment of pharmacoresistant epilepsy, and his work on this subject has been published in many peer-reviewed journals and presented at the national and international levels.

Dr. Bartolini's research interests include surgical evaluation of children with epilepsy and viral and inflammatory mechanisms in pediatric epilepsy. His research is conducted in collaboration with the Viral Immunology Section at the National Institutes of Health and has been supported by the American Epilepsy Society and Epilepsy Foundation of America. Dr. Bartolini is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, the American Epilepsy Society, and the Child Neurology Society.

Medical Director, Pediatric Neurology

William D. Brown, MD, FAAP, is medical director of pediatric neurology at Hasbro Children’s Hospital. He has served as a clinical associate professor of neurology and pediatrics at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University for 11 years. He has been an attending physician of pediatrics and neurology at Rhode Island Hospital since 1995.

Dr. Brown’s research interests include concussion and disorders of brain development. His work has been published in many peer-reviewed publications and book chapters. He is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, American Academy of Neurology, and the Child Neurology Society.

Rachit Patil, MD, is a pediatric neurologist and epileptologist at Rhode Island and Hasbro Children’s hospitals. He is an assistant professor of pediatrics at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. Dr. Patil’s clinical interests include seizures in newborns and young children along with neurogenetics. He is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, the American Clinical Neurophysiology Society. Dr Patil is board-certified with the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology with special qualifications in child neurology.

Dr Patil is fluent in English, Hindi and Marathi.

Ana C. Albuja Ponce, MD, is a pediatric neurologist at Hasbro Children’s Hospital and an assistant professor at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. Her clinical interests include functional neurological disorders and epilepsy.

Dr. Ponce's research interests include quality improvement in pediatric epilepsy and neonatal stroke. Her work on these subjects has been published in books, peer-reviewed journals, and abstracts. She is a member of the American Academy of Neurology and the Child Neurology Society.
