School of Medical Imaging
Important Requirement for Medical Imaging Students
A complete COVID series plus booster dose as well as an influenza vaccination is required prior to acceptance into a medical imaging program.
School of Medical Imaging Programs
The School of Medical Imaging has partnered with Rhode Island College (RIC) for a bachelor of science degree in medical imaging. The college offers a comprehensive didactic and clinical education for four primary concentrations with additional secondary concentrations for eligible, registered technologists.
Throughout the academic program, experienced clinicians and neighboring community professionals work with students in both the classroom and clinical setting using the latest technology and incorporating best practices for a full education in this essential area of healthcare.
Mission Statement
The mission of the School of Medical Imaging is to work collaboratively with technologists and other healthcare professionals to prepare students with entry level employment skills to meet the needs of the community. The school offers a variety of clinical settings to diversify and enhance student learning and networking in its communities of interest.
Articulation Agreement
The School of Medical Imaging has a formal articulation agreement with Rhode Island College. Students accepted into any medical imaging program are Rhode Island College students.
Primary Concentrations
To be considered for entry into one of the clinical education programs, qualified Rhode Island College students who have completed their pre-clinical required courses can apply to one of the primary concentrations offered by the School of Medical Imaging where, upon acceptance, they will enter the clinical program for an additional 20 months to complete their bachelor of science degree and become eligible for certification.
Modalities
- Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS)
- Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
- Nuclear Medicine Technology (NMT)
- Radiography (RAD)
Admission to the School of Medical Imaging is competitive and is not guaranteed by applying. Applicants will be required to complete a personal interview and essay submission.
Applicants are required to obtain a minimum of 60 on the test of essential academic skills exam (TEAS Exam) and must have an overall GPA of 2.7, including all college coursework, with minimum grades of C (74) or better in these pre-clinical required courses:
