Collaborative Services

The Andrew F. Anderson Emergency Center at Rhode Island Hospital, an American College of Surgeons-verified Level I Trauma Center, is staffed by board certified emergency medicine physicians and Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)-trained registered nurses. 

The center has 24-hour operating room availability, as well as the following services.

Intensive care units and critical care services include:

• Trauma
• Neurosurgery
• Cardiothoracic and coronary
• Pediatric
• Respiratory
• Medical
• Surgical

Radiology services include:

• Spiral CT scanner and MRI in the emergency department available 24 hours
• Interventional radiology
• Radiology attending physician available around the clock

• Ear, nose and throat (otolaryngology)
• Neurosurgery
• Orthopedics
• Ophthalmology
• Oral maxillofacial surgery
• Plastic surgery
• Trauma medicine and surgery

• Hand service: plastic surgery and orthopedics
• Spine service: neurosurgery and orthopedics
• Respiratory therapy

Other services offered at the center include:

• Physical and occupational therapy
• Clinical social work, interpreter services and pastoral services
• Case management for coordinating rehabilitation placement or services
