Nuclear Medicine

The nuclear medicine division of diagnostic imaging provides a full range of clinically focused diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.  In nuclear medicine a small amount of radioactive material is introduced into the body by injection, ingestion or inhalation.   The administered radioactive material then localizes to a particular organ or site through normal physiologic processes.

Small amounts of energy are released from the localized radioactive material and detected by state-of-the-art SPECT cameras and hybrid imaging equipment such as PET/CT and SPECT/CT cameras, which document the structure or function of the tissue or organ of interest.

All studies are interpreted by board-certified radiologists.
