Meet Our Team at the Eating Disorder Program
Abigail A. Donaldson, MD, is board certified in both adolescent medicine and pediatrics, and an attending physician in the division of adolescent medicine at Hasbro Children’s Hospital. Dr. Donaldson is medical director of the hospital’s Eating Disorder Program, and a certified specialist in eating disorders by the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals. She is an assistant professor of pediatrics at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.
Dr. Donaldson’s work on adolescent bone health, sexual health and eating disorders has been published in many peer-reviewed journals and other scientific publications. Her areas of interest include eating disorders, sexually transmitted infection prevention, and contraception counseling and management. Dr. Donaldson is a member of the national and local chapters of the Society for Adolescent Health and Medicine, the American Academy of Pediatrics and the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals.
Sherry Gagnon, MSN, CPNP, AC/PC, is a pediatric nurse practitioner currently specializing in the care of patients with eating disorders and adolescent health care. She is certified in primary and acute care pediatrics. Gagnon graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 1989 with a BSN degree and Regis College in 2005 with her MSN degree as a pediatric nurse practitioner. She has extensive experience in the area of pediatrics, having worked in the pediatric intensive care unit, on the pediatric transport team and as a nurse practitioner in the Hasbro Children's Hospital emergency department, as well as in primary care at a Providence-based pediatric office. Gagnon also serves as an adjunct nursing faculty member for both Rhode Island College of Nursing and Salve Regina University College of Nursing. She provides medical evaluation, treatment and support to both patients in the specialty clinic and to inpatients.
Allison Hall, LICSW, is a clinical social worker with the Eating Disorder Program at Hasbro Children’s Hospital. She is a master’s level social worker with independent clinical social work licensure through the state of Rhode Island. She has extensive experience treating eating disorders in children and adolescents, as well as implementing social work services in the medical setting. She coordinates the care of new patient referrals, facilitates psychosocial evaluations and provides emotional support and psychoeducation to patients and parents in the inpatient and clinic settings.
Katelyn Chopy, MS, RD, LDN, is a pediatric clinical dietitian at Hasbro Children’s Hospital. Chopy currently specializes in the treatment of eating disorders, general pediatric nutrition, weight management and nutrition support. Katelyn completed her combined dietetic internship and MS degree in nutrition and dietetics from the University of Rhode Island in 2013. She provides inpatient coverage for the nutritional management of pediatric patients with a variety of diagnoses as well as outpatient nutrition services for eating disorders, obese/overweight adolescents and adolescent mothers and their children. She is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and the Rhode Island Dietetic Association.
Shannon Simones, RD, LDN, is a pediatric clinical dietitian at Hasbro Children’s Hospital. She is currently specializing in general pediatric nutrition and eating disorders. Simones received her BS degree in nutrition and dietetics from Idaho State University in 2009. In May 2010, she completed her dietetic internship through Idaho State University, completing rotations at St. Luke’s Medical Center and St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital in Boise, Idaho. Simones comes to Hasbro Children's Hospital with previous experience in outpatient counseling for the management of diabetes, adult weight management and bariatric nutrition. Simones is excited to be a part of the pediatric team and work with adolescents with eating disorders. She is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and the Rhode Island Dietetic Association.
