Julia Schulkers, MS, APRN, FNP-C is a board-certified family nurse practitioner in Hasbro Children’s Hospital adolescent medicine division. Her interests include working with underserved populations and empowering patients of all backgrounds.

Schulkers earned a master of science degree in nursing from The Ohio State University. She then completed a primary care family practice residency at the Thundermist Health Center in Rhode Island with specialized training in transgender and gender diverse health and addiction medicine.

She is a licensed suboxone medical provider with advanced training from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). 

Before joining Lifespan, she worked as a nurse practitioner in community health with the Comprehensive Community Action Program in Warwick, Rhode Island and the Thundermist Health Center in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. In addition, she served as a United States Peace Corps volunteer organizing public health outreach and curriculum development in Nakonsawan, Thailand.

She is a member of the American Public Health Association and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.

She is fluent in Thai.
