Steve Rapoza, RN
Behavioral Health
I started at Newport Hospital in the float pool in the summer of 1996 after working for four years at Rhode Island Hospital's medical psychiatric unit.

After a few years in the float pool, I took a position as onsite manager of The Occupational Health Center in East Greenwich, Rhode Island. This center, a satellite occupational health site affiliated with University Orthopedics, was a new endeavor for Newport Hospital. After a three-year trial, we decided to dissolve our affiliation and I made a lateral transfer back to Newport Hospital and my first love-psychiatry.
I've seen many changes since my years in the float pool and I'm proud to say that I think we offer the best care for this difficult and chronic population. As difficult as it can be, I enjoy every aspect of my job while working with many professionals from various disciplines to meet our population's needs. I have also enjoyed facilitating the unit's outpatient support group for nearly 14 years.
