The Center for Professional Practice and Innovation (CPPI) supports nursing at The Miriam Hospital in planning, designing, implementing and evaluating programs that influence and enhance evidence-based knowledge, practice, and research, shared governance, the professional development of nurses, and top performance on quality outcomes.

CPPI is guided by ANA Nursing Professional Development standards and ANCC Magnet Standards, and The Miriam Hospital Nursing Professional Practice Model.

What Our Clinical Development Specialists Do

Working collaboratively with nursing and other disciplines, the clinical development specialists in CPPI:

  • Promote effective transitions in nursing practice and competency and leadership development at all levels
  • Lead and develop nursing research and knowledge generation
  • Facilitate translation of innovation and professional standards into evidence-based care
  • Evaluate professional development activities, their impact on knowledge, skills, and attitudes, and the achievement of patient outcomes
