An Investigational Study of Exosomes Found in Saliva as an Indicator of Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders

Exosome AD Study

Discovery of biological changes in saliva and blood may help researchers identify early brain changes indicative of Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders. These indicators could be a new tool for diagnosing memory and thinking disorders, years before the appearance of memory loss or other symptoms. Participants will provide annual saliva and blood samples as well as participate in memory and thinking tests as part of this study, which will be conducted over five years.

You may qualify for participation in this study if you are age 65 or older and want to be involved in research. Healthy people with and without memory and thinking problems can participate in this study.

This is a multi-year collaboration between researchers at Rhode Island Hospital and Brown University and is funded by a grant to Jill Kreiling, PhD and Peter Quesenberry, MD from the National Institutes on Aging (R01 AG074284).
