MIDDLETOWN, R.I. – A new Lifespan Urgent Care  is now open and ready to serve patients of all ages on Aquidneck Island.

The new location, the second Lifespan Urgent Care to be established in Rhode Island, opened on Monday, Nov. 11 at an easily accessible, central location in Middletown. The address is 1360 West Main Rd. (the Stop & Shop plaza).

Aquidneck Island residents who have come to trust Lifespan and its affiliates for delivering health with care will now be able to access the same high-quality service for minor illnesses and injuries – both conveniently and quickly.

Visiting a Lifespan Urgent Care, a program of Lifespan Physician Group, has the added benefit of seamless access to a patient’s electronic medical records on the MyLifespan patient portal as well as to Lifespan emergency services and specialists if needed.

For even more convenience, patients wishing to visit a Lifespan Urgent Care will be able to register online and reserve a time slot.

“I am excited to announce our commitment to providing great, convenient and affordable medical care to the residents of Middletown and its surrounding communities. We are honored to be your neighborhood Urgent Care and hope to help families, patients, and employees get the great care they deserve,” said Bobby Hingorani, Director of Urgent Care Operations for Lifespan Physician Group. “We are a state-of-the-art facility with the ability to perform minor procedures and flat plate X-ray. Our well-trained medical staff believes strongly in the importance of working with fellow community health providers to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients. When necessary our Middletown team can help refer patients within the broader health care system, including referrals to specialists and hospitals.”

Lifespan Urgent Care will be providing treatment for adults and children 18 months and older. Among the injuries and illnesses we help with are:

•    Colds and flu
•    Earaches and sinus infections
•    Fractures and sprains
•    Animal bites
•    Cuts
•    Stomach upset and diarrhea
•    Burns
•    Insect bites

We also offer sports physicals.

Clinic hours will be 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Sunday, and some holidays (closed New Year’s Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.)

All Lifespan Urgent Care facilities are under the supervision of medical director Olivier Gherardi, D.O., a long-time Rhode Island resident.

“Urgent care is a safe and cost-effective alternative to the Emergency Department, as we are able to quickly take care of patients who have symptoms or concerns that come up suddenly and who are stable and not in a life-threatening situation,” Gherardi said. “Urgent care can also accommodate patients who do not have a primary care physician.”

The first Lifespan Urgent Care opened in Warwick in September at 17 Airport Rd. (at Hoxsie Four Corners). Additional locations will be announced in the near future.
