The Center for Cardiac, Pulmonary, and Vascular Fitness

Perhaps you are recovering from open heart surgery, a heart attack or stent implantation, or a heart or lung transplant. Maybe you’re suffering from pulmonary disease or want to prevent heart disease. Pain in your calves or thighs after you walk even short distances may be limiting your everyday activities.

If so, our cardiac, pulmonary and vascular rehabilitation programs can help you lead a healthier, more comfortable life.

The Lifespan Cardiovascular Institute provides rehabilitation services at the Center for Cardiac, Pulmonary & Vascular Fitness on Collyer Street in Providence and the Lifespan Ambulatory Care Center in East Greenwich.

Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program

The pulmonary rehabilitation program offers evaluation, therapy and education for patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and other restrictive lung diseases or conditions.

An offering at the East Greenwich Center is the Dean Ornish Intensive Cardiac Rehab Program, the only lifestyle medicine program proven in randomized controlled clinical trials to reverse coronary heart disease and the only program of its kind offered in New England.

The Center for Cardiac, Pulmonary & Vascular Fitness is one of only two centers in the state that are accredited for cardiac rehabilitation by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation and the pulmonary rehabilitation program is the only one in Rhode Island accredited by that organization.

Our programs are personalized to provide the ideal balance of exercise, nutrition, stress management, education, and support services. They are both stimulating and practical, giving you the knowledge and inspiration to permanently adopt a healthy lifestyle.
