COVID-19 Vaccines and Boosters

Coastal strongly encourages every eligible patient to receive their COVID-19 vaccine and booster dose when it becomes available. Widespread vaccination is a critical tool to help reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus. The current COVID vaccines and boosters do provide protection and greatly reduce the risk of severe or life-threatening infection.

COVID-19 Vaccine Availability

Ages 5 to 11

We are thrilled that the COVID vaccination for ages 5 to 11 years has been approved by the CDC. Pediatric patients can receive the COVID-19 Vaccine at the following locations:

Ages 12 to 17

Pediatric patients age 12 to 17 can receive the COVID-19 vaccine at the following locations:

Should I get the COVID vaccine? 
Yes, everyone who is eligible (currently 5 years of age & older) should get the vaccine. 

Will my Coastal doctor write me a note, so I don’t have to get the COVID-19 vaccine? 
No, the medical reasons for not getting a vaccine are exceedingly rare and Coastal will not provide notes granting vaccine exemption. 

Can I get the Influenza vaccine (Flu shot) when I get the COVID vaccine? 
Yes, the Flu shot and the COVID vaccine can be given at the same time.

Booster Dose Eligibility

Booster eligibility is changing rapidly. For the most up-to-date information, please visit the CDC website.

Johnson & Johnson 

Everyone who is age 18 and older and who got the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine can get a booster dose two months or more after their first dose. 

Pfizer 

The CDC recommends anyone 12 years of age and older, who received the two doses of the PfizerBioTech COVID-19 vaccine, get a booster dose five months or more after their second dose. 

Moderna 

The CDC recommends anyone 18 years of age and older, who received the two doses of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, get a booster dose five months or more after their second dose. 

Note regarding all boosters: You do not need to use the same vaccine you received in your primary series for your booster dose.
