Hasbro Children’s Hospital provides welcoming, affirming, and safe care to transgender and gender diverse (TGD) children, adolescents, and their families. Our physicians, nurses, clinicians, behavioral specialists, and staff are committed to providing patient-centered, gender-affirming care that supports our TGD patients throughout their inpatient or emergency department experience.

Our Pledge

We adhere to Lifespan guidelines for the safe, ethical, and appropriate care for transgender and gender-diverse patients who we serve at Hasbro Children’s Hospital. We believe all TGD individuals have the right to receive competent, considerate, and respectful care in a safe environment that maintains the patient’s privacy, comfort and dignity and is free from all forms of abuse and harassment, including abuse or harassment based on gender identity or gender expression.

• Referencing a person’s self-identified gender and requested name throughout their clinical experience.
• Providing access to any single-user restroom for any individual.
• Complying with privacy laws and protected health information.
• Permitting access to personal items that assist in gender expression.
